Mississippi College offers a Master of Science and a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design Degree. Designed for ambitious professionals, these programs typically span one to two years and provide a rigorous curriculum that enhances your visual communication skills.
The M.S. and M.F.A. programs are meticulously crafted to fuel your career aspirations, offering a comprehensive exploration of critical design disciplines such as branding, print design, interactive design, and research. Our distinguished faculty, nearly all holding advanced degrees, offer mentorship and insights drawn from extensive professional experience. From them, you’ll gain both theoretical knowledge and practical wisdom to transform your creative potential into remarkable success.
The Master of Sciences (M.S.) degree is a 30-hour program. This program primarily focuses on graphic design and research-related classwork.
The Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design (M.F.A) is a terminal 60-hour degree that incorporates creative studio classes in drawing, photography, printmaking, and other applied areas. Additionally, students pursuing the MFA will complete two research courses that prepare them for a written and visual thesis to defend.

The Department of Art requires applicants to have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or above and an undergraduate degree in graphic design, art, public relations, or communications with at least 18 hours of graphic design-related courses. You must submit a formal statement of intent of 500-1,000 words setting forth a personal philosophy and professional objectives for the degree. Submit the statement, resume, and digital portfolio of images to ivey@mc.edu.
