Prepare for a career sharing your love of art with students at the elementary, middle, or high school level.
Art education transcends instruction; it shapes the future of today’s youth while honoring the cultures and artists that came before. At Mississippi College, we proudly stand as Mississippi’s exclusive university offering the undergraduate Bachelor of Science Education (B.S.Ed.) degree in Art Education. This transformative program empowers you to cultivate a solid grounding in studio art alongside comprehensive education coursework. It prepares you not only for a fulfilling career as an elementary, middle, or high school art educator but also opens pathways to impactful roles across various agencies and institutions.
Through immersive classroom experiences guided by mentor teachers and valuable networking opportunities within national and state professional art education organizations, we empower you to ignite creativity, inspire minds, and leave a lasting legacy through your creativity.
MC’s Art Education Degree program enables you to build your artistic skills and knowledge through various studio classes in 2D and 3D Media and Design. The elective courses in our curriculum allow you to continue refining skills in a particular medium or explore media outside of your required courses. Art Education classes in curriculum development and a semester of student teaching prepare you for your future classroom. In addition to a Christian-based curriculum, our professors encourage your faith through your creative talents. They will help you explore how your faith and beliefs will guide your future as an educator and what this will look like in your classroom.
